UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024 Notification Out, How to apply for UPSC, UPSC online registration, 1056 Vacancies
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) which conducts the prestigious Civil Services Examination annually for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service among others, has released the official notification yesterday. The exam is highly competitive and aims to select the top bureaucrats of the country.
Important Dates:
Online application process starts: Open as of 14th Feb, 2024
Last date to fill online application: 5th March, 2024 (till 6:00 PM)
Last date for making corrections in application: 12th March, 2024 (7 days window)
Expected Prelims exam date: Last week of May 2024 (exact date to be announced later)
Number of Vacancies:
Around 1056 vacancies are expected to be filled through this examination, including reserved vacancies. The breakdown of vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities is:
Blindness & Low Vision: 06
Deaf & Hard of Hearing: 12
Locomotor Disability: 09
Multiple Disabilities: 13
So 40 vacancies out of 1056 are reserved for candidates belonging to the PWD category.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age Limit: The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not be over 32 years as on 1st August 2024. Which means candidates must be born between 2nd August 1992 and 1st August 2003.
Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a Graduate degree from any recognized university incorporated by Central or State Legislature in India.
Application Fee:
The application fee is Rs. 100 for all candidates except the following exempted categories:
Female candidates
Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities
Physically disabled candidates
They need not pay any fee. Fee can be paid online via net banking, credit/debit cards, UPI or cash deposit at SBI branch.
Application Process:
Candidates have to mandatorily apply online at the UPSC website upsconline.nic.in. Prior one time registration on the portal is required to fill the form.
The civil services exam consists of a preliminary screening exam consisting of two papers - General Studies and Aptitude Test, followed by the Main exam and Interview for those who clear the prelims. The exam syllabus covers a wide range of subjects related to History, Politics, Economy, Environment, Geography among others.
Over 10 lakh candidates apply for this highly competitive exam every year. The selected candidates go through a rigorous training process before being allocated different civil services like IAS, IPS, IFS among others.
