Govt identifies 26,000 vacancies in various Departments To be referred to PSC, SSB

Govt identifies 26,000 vacancies in various Departments

To be referred to PSC, SSB

JAMMU, February 27: In what could be a good news for unemployed youth, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has so far identified 26,000 vacancies in various departments for filling up in the current year including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV.

“Majority of the posts identified for recruitment during the current year are in non-Gazetted cadre and Class-IV while rest will be for Gazetted Officers,” official sources told the Excelsior.

A detailed exercise has been carried out by various Government departments to identify vacancies in different cadres including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV and the figure has come around 26,000. However, the exercise is still on in some departments.

Following clearance by the Government, the posts will be referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), sources said.

The recruitment agencies will initiate exercise for filling up of vacancies only after receiving a detailed note from the Government.

“Number of the vacancies might go up slightly as some departments could revise the list in next few days,” sources said.

Few days back, the Government had asked all departments to identify vacancies and submit them to the General Administration Department by March. The GAD will refer vacancies to the PSC and JKSSB by April 1 and the two recruitment agencies will initiate the recruitment process which will be completed in the calendar year.

Similar process, as per the sources, could be taken up in subsequent years with departments finalizing vacancy positions in March and referring them to the General Administration Department which will, in turn, send the vacancies to recruitment agencies by April 1. The posts will be filled within the calendar year.

“All efforts will be made that the vacancies advertised are filled up in the same year with timelines fixed for written tests and other processes,” they said, adding the unemployed youth aspiring for the Government jobs will be well aware in advance about the vacancies for the year and will prepare themselves accordingly.

However, if some vacancies are to be filled up in emergency mode, they will be an exception, they said, adding number of such vacancies will be bare minimum.

The Government had recently issued an order directing all the departments to undertake exercise for current year immediately to meet the timelines and guidelines/regulations so that all vacancies arising out in the departments are referred by March 31.

“The annual calendar will ensure that vacancies which accrue in the calendar year, are referred to Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board and Public Service Commission, as the case may be immediately after start of the calendar year,” sources said.

Describing filling up of 26,000 plus vacancies in Government departments in less than a year as “significant”, sources said this will help the unemployed youth as vacancies pertained to all cadre including Gazetted, non-Gazetted and Class-IV.

JK SSRB approves list of selected candidates for 2,300 government posts

JK SSRB approves list of selected candidates for 2,300 government posts

Srinagar, February 17:
The Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection and Recruitment Board (SSRB) has finalised a list of over 2,300 successful candidates for government posts, which will reduce the staff shortage in various departments including health department, an official said on Friday.

“We have finalised the list of 1,534 candidates for junior assistant posts referred to us by various departments. A notification to this effect will be issued shortly,” Chairman of the SSRB Rajesh Sharma told PTI.

In addition to this, the board has also finalised the list of selected candidates for the posts of junior staff nurse (582) and ANM/health worker (202), said Sharma. He said these lists were approved in the 220th board meeting held on Thursday.

The chairman said there was some delay in finalising the list as some of the candidates had gone to the court.

“The court orders on the petitions came recently and we have expedited the process since then,” he said.

On the upcoming recruitments in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, the board will hold examinations for 1,390 posts of Junior engineers in various departments, 972 posts finance accounts assistants and 1,395 posts of panchayat secretaries in the months of March and April this year.

Sharma said the board was working on forming a calendar of activities for the recruitment of government jobs.

“We are working on framing a calendar of examinations for six to eight months right now. The annual calendar will help in time-bound and expeditious recruitment process,” he added. PTI MIJ FZH

JKSSB to hold major recruitment exams after March 15

JKSSB to hold major recruitment exams after 15 March

Srinagar, February  14 (GreaterKashmir): Scores of aspirants appearing in the ongoing recruitment examinations conducted by the J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) have complained about the poor heating arrangements in the examination centres which has left them at the receiving end.

As per the recruitment schedule notified by the JKSSB,  the written examination for different posts was conducted in the first week of February following which the candidates complained about poor heating arrangements in the examination halls.

“The examination staff  provided a single heating gadget for one exam centre which does not suffice the needs and candidates were shivering due to prevailing cold weather conditions,” said Nazima, one of the aspirants.

“It was really difficult for us to sit and write for around six hours in the examination without proper heating arrangements,” she said.

Notably, the JKSSB had scheduled examinations for the post of labour inspector, labour officer, Vehicle inspector, Patwari, Drivers and other posts.

“This was not the right time to schedule the exam in the Kashmir division. The government was already aware about the cold climatic conditions in the Valley and written exams should not have been scheduled at this point of time,” said Anzar, another aspirant.

The aspirants expressed their concern saying that they were not able to perform in the exams which ultimately tells upon the merit of the candidates.

“It is not possible for any candidate to write the exams amid the prevailing cold. The poor arrangements in the exam centres ultimately affect our performance and we remain out of merit,” another candidate said.

The candidates said the JKSSB which is the recruiting agency for holding the exams for non-gazetted posts of various departments should have delayed the exams in the larger interests of the candidates from Kashmir.

“Recently, there were very few candidates from Kashmir figuring in the selection list of KAS 2021 exams. The number was less for the first time. The trend should not continue in the exams for non-gazetted posts. The candidates from all the areas of J&K should be given a level playing field so that all can perform well,” said Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir, an aspirant from Baramulla.

The aspirants of various posts advertised by the JKSSB urged the Board to delay the exams for at least one or two months in order to provide equal opportunities to them.

Chairman JKSSB, Rajesh Sharma when contacted acknowledged that a single heating gadget provided in one examination hall cannot suffice the needs of the aspirants and said they will delay all the major exams in the interest of the candidates.

“We understand that having a single heating gadget in a big examination hall will not serve and examinees feel uneasy with such arrangements,” Chairman JKSSB told Greater Kashmir.

He said they have decided to schedule all the major recruitment examinations after March 15 for the convenience of the candidates.

“We held exams for a few posts of drivers and other posts recently given the crises in the departments owing to the retirement of employees. But now, all the exams with a huge number of aspirants will be held after March 15,” he said.
