In 2013, the Supreme
Court stayed the implementation of the Cheetah Reintroduction Programme.
2020 Cheetah Reintroduction Programme was allowed.
January 2022,
Bhupender Yadav
(environment minister ) launched the action plan for reintroducing cheetahs in
India.
Starting it with Kuno
national park of Madhya Pradesh.
Government of India in
2022 drafted a 25-year plan for Lion relocation within Gujarat state and not in
other states.
Project Cheetah:
8 Cheetahs Broght to
India
Including Five female
and three male cheetahs aged 4 to 6 years arrived in Kuno National Park from
Namibia On 17 September 2022.
Flora:
The dominant tree
species are Acacia catechu, Salai Boswellia serrata.
Anogeissus pendula
forest and scrub, Butea forest
Fauna:
Indian leopard, jungle
cat, sloth bear, dhole, Indian wolf
129 bird species were
sighted during a survey in spring 2007

vulture, long-billed vulture,
red-headed vulture,
Egyptian vulture, crested serpent-eagle,

trees , 71 species of shrubs , 32 species of climbers & exotic species,
34 species of bamboos and grasses, 33 species
of mammals, 206 species of birds,
14 species of fishes,
33 species of reptiles and 10 species of amphibians.
