History of District Kathua


It is believed that One Jodh Singh a famous Rajput of Andotra clan migrated from HASTINAPUR to KATHUA nearly 2000 years ago and settled here.

The three Hamlets of Taraf Tajwal, Taraf Manjali and Taraf Bhajwal were established by his three sons Viz. Teju, Kindal and Bhaju.

Their descendent are now called as Tajwalia, Bhajwalia and Khanwalia Rajputs of Andotra sub-caste.

These three hamlets was loosely called “KATHAI”

With the passage of time came to be called as KATHUA.

2 powerful empires of Abhisara (Present day POONCH) and KATHAIOI at the time of invasion of India by ALEXANDER,

DOGRI & PAHARI are the main languages spoken

The traditional language of Kathua is Dogri

The District is surrounded by Punjab in the South-East, Himachal Pradesh in North-East, Doda and Udhampur in North and North-West, Jammu in the West and Pakistan in the South-West

Area is 2651 Sq Kms

Climate:  sub-tropical to temperate

Minerals: The most important Minerals in the district are Cement Grade Lime Stone in Basohli area. Low Grade Iron deposits in Lohai-Malhar block, Gypsum deposits in village Daulla

Rivers: RAVI RIVER

Ranjit Sagar Dam is built on this river ( Basoli)

The length of the river in the district is approximately 55Km

The main tributory of the Ravi river is Sewa river

The length of the river in the district is 125 Km

UJH RIVER: The length of the river in the district is 65 Km

Named after Raja Udham Singh

Doda District has been carved out from the erstwhile District Udhampur in 1948

Situated among lush green forests of Eucalyptus

It is called as Land of Natural Water

it serves as the district capital and the Northern Command headquarters of the Indian Army

A Forward Base Support Unit (FBSU) of the Indian Air Force is also stationed here

The Kiramchi temples located here

it was a halting place on Jammu- Kashmir route through Banihal

Pandavas of Mahabharata was responsible to lay the foundation of this place

Krimachi was capital of Bhuti which had been one of the principalities of Jammu region under the successors of Daya-Karan, a ruler of Kashmir

Daya- Karan ruled for many centuries and their dynasty was known as “Bhutials”

Last ruler of this dynasty named “Himmat Singh” was defeated by the Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Bhuti was included in to the Jammu Kingdom in A.D. 1834

Ramnagar Fort

Ramnagar is situated on the left bank of Kud river

Ramnagar also served as the captial of old Bandarlta State

Ramnagar Fort is believed to have been built by Raja Suchet Singh

-Died in 1844. His wife performed sati nearby

Ramnagar is  famous for its cuisine such as the  dish of Kalaad

Sheesh Mahal

It is said that Sage Kashyap had drained a lake in this area and created Kashmir of which Jammu became a separate part much later

Conduct of OMR based written test for the post of for the posts of Accounts Assistant (Finance Department), being conducted on 06th of March, 2022 in single sitting / session from 12:00 noon to 02:00 P.M– Instructions for candidates - reg.The OMR Based Written Test for the posts of Accounts Assistant (Finance Department), UT Cadre advertised vide Advertisement Notification No 04 of 2020, Under Item No 106 is being conducted on 06thof March, 2022 in single sitting / session from 12:00 noon to 02:00 P.M.In order to ensure smooth conduct of Written Test, the following instructions are issued for aspiring candidate

FINANCE ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT, JKSSB

Conduct of OMR based written test for the post of for the posts of Accounts Assistant (Finance Department), being conducted on 06th of March, 2022 in single sitting / session from 12:00 noon to 02:00 P.M– Instructions for candidates - reg.The OMR Based Written Test for the posts of Accounts Assistant (Finance Department), UT Cadre advertised vide Advertisement Notification No 04 of 2020, Under Item No 106 is being conducted on 06thof March, 2022 in single sitting / session from 12:00 noon to 02:00 P.M.In order to ensure smooth conduct of Written Test, the following instructions are issued for aspiring candidates:-


(i) Candidates must report two and half (2½) hour before start of the examination.
(ii) Candidate must carry the Admit Card and ID proof with them in the Examination Hall. In case photograph is missing on Admit Card, the candidate needs to affix latest passport size photo and carry additional onephotograph for pasting in the OMR attendance sheet. No candidate would be allowed to sit in the examination without Admit Card or necessary corroboration of Admit Card with valid I.D. proof.

 

(iii) The candidates must not scratch, overwrite, tick mark in the OMR answer sheet. Multiple answers will be considered as wrong answer.
(iv) The Candidates are only allowed to use only Blue or Black ball point pen for filling details in OMR Answer sheet. Use of pencil and gel-pen is not allowed.
(v) The candidates should check their Question Paper before attempting to answer any question to ensure that there is no missing question or page, blank page, damaged or defaced page in their Question Booklet. In case candidate notices that he/she possesses such Question Paper, at any time during the Entrance Test, he / she shall inform the Invigilator regarding this to replace such Question Booklet immediately.
(vi) The candidates are advised to carefully read all instructions on OMR sheet before attempting to answer the questions.
(vii) The candidates are advised to maintain proper discipline and follow the instructions properly.
(viii) The candidate would not engage themselves in side talking which would disturb the examination.
(ix) The candidates will not be allowed to go to wash room during the Test, except in emergency caused by ill health, but in no case during the last 30 minutes of the examination.
(x) No candidate will be allowed to leave the classroom before the test time is over, irrespective of any reason whatsoever.
(xi) The candidates shall fill up all the relevant boxes and bubbles on the OMR Sheet with correct Roll Number, Series, Question Booklet number etc before signing OMR Sheet.
(xii) The candidates shall mark their attendance on the attendance sheets by putting his or her signature against his/her name.
(xiii) The candidate must darken one bubble only corresponding to the chosen option, in response to each question. There shall be negative marking if the candidate has darkened more than one bubble a question to answer. 
(xiv) The candidates shall darken the correct bubble (option) strictly as per the guide-lines so that the candidates responses are deciphered properly while scanning of OMR and JKSSB is not responsible for problems on account of wrongful recording of answers .
(xv) Candidate are not allowed to carry any calculators, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, papers, notes, book, scanning devices, pagers, headphone, earplugs, laptops, i-pad, table pc and / or other computing/communication devices or electronic gadget into written test venue. Candidates found using or possessing such unauthorized materials, indulging in copying or impersonation or adopting unfair means are liable to be summarily disqualified and may also be subjected to penal action.
(xvi) Candidates can carry writing-board, transparent water bottle, personal hand sanitizer, mask, ball pen and PwD Certificates Scribe and Scribe related documents, if applicable in the examination hall for their convenience.
(xvii) Candidates must abstain from obtaining any kind of unfair assistance.
(xviii) Impersonation or use of unfair means by any candidate will make him / her liable for disqualification / cancellation of candidature.COVID-19 RELATED INSTRUCTIONS
1- The "SOP issued by MoHFW/J&K Government on preventive measures will be followed by all concerned while conducting/appearing in examination, to contain spread of CO VID-19
2- Wearing of face mask and sanitizing of hands are mandatory and the candidate shall not spit in the Venue of Examination premises. However, candidate will have to remove his/her face mask as and when asked by the J&K Services Selection Board functionaries/Supervisory Staff deployed in the Examination Hall, for verification purposes.
3- In case a candidate is COVID positive, he / she should inform Centre Superintendent of the concerned centre on the day of examination alongwith necessary medical report so that appropriate sitting arrangement can be made by the Centre Superintendent.
iv- Social distancing is mandatory throughout, from entry to exit in the Venue of Examination premises.
v- Strictly follow respiratory etiquette, this involves strict practice of covering one's mouth and nose while coughing/ sneezing with a tissue' handkerchief /flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly.
vi- Important Instructions for the exam and Advisories regarding COVID-19 have also been issued to the candidates in their respective Admit Cards. All candidates should download their Latest Admit Card, carefully read the Instructions and Advisories for COVID-19 given therein and strictly adhere to them.
vii- Entry Time for candidates has been mentioned in the Admit card. Exit time will be decided by the Supervisor of the Centre concerned.

Wuegi-Nachun

This dance form is generally performed after all the rituals of wedding when the bride is about to leave her parental home. Kashmiri Pundit females gather around bridal rangoli and dances.


Bhand Jashan

Bhand Jashan is a very soothing dance with very light music and performed in traditional style by ten to fifteen dancers.


Hafiza Dance

It is a dance that is performed at weddings and is a form of Kashmiri traditional dance. There is a special instrument used in this dance known as Santoor that contains almost hundred strings and is played with the help of sticks.

 

Bachha Nagma

This yet another dance form is generally performed at cultural gatherings or special functions like weddings and is only and only performed by boys. It consists of six to seven members maximum and there is no external singer one of the dancers is the lead singer. The dresses worn by dancers somewhat resemble to those worn by Kathak dancers.  In some parts this dance form is also known by the name ‘Bachha Gyavaun

 

Bhand Pather

It is a form of Theatre dance performed in Kashmir. This dance form does not only include dance but also include plays between dances that captivates the audience. It shows the normal lives, traditions and evils prevailing in the society.

 

Rouf Dance

Rouf  is a  famous traditional dance form which is found in Kashmir region.  This dance form is practiced on festive occasions like Eid and Ramzan days are going.  It is performed by group of women standing face to face to each other but the most notable feature of this dance form is the footwork of the dancers. One of the most known dance form in all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir is ‘Rouf'.  It is a dance performed on set of spring season and has always been an integral part of kashmiri people since a very long time.

 

Dumhal Dance

Of all the dance forms the most famous Dance forms practiced in Kashmir is ‘Dumhal’. Dancers performing this dance are dressed up wearing vibrant colored robes and conical caps. only males of Wattal can perform this dance. There is a special ritual manner in which dancers have to dance and a banner is dig into the ground and dance generally takes off with group of men dancing around this banner. Dancers sing in a melodious voice in chorus and they are joined by drum beats

Kud Dance

One of the famous dance forms of the state is Kud dance. It is performed to honor the gods ‘Lok Devtas’. Unlike other dance forms in Kud dance young people as well old people participate equally that makes it more interesting. Some special Musical instruments are used in dance like Chhaina, Drums, Narsingha and flute. It is mostly performed during rainy season.  farmers and villagers who work as farmers want to oblige god the local deity ‘Gramdevta’ for protecting their cattle’s, maize crops, children’s and family. it is performed most parts of Jammu.

Hikat

Hikat, danced by women, is a modification of a game played by children. Forming pairs, the participants extend their arms to the front gripping each other's wrists and with the body inclined back, go round and round at the same spot.


Mandjas

Is Another dance form performed in Jammu and kashmir.
